Application of salesman-like recommendation system in 3G mobile phone online shopping decision support Abstract_The rapid growth of e-commerce has confronted both enterprises and consumers with a new situation. Whereas companies are finding it harder to survive, consumers are unable to effectively select the products that really to meet their needs. To reduce the product overload of Internet shoppers, a variety of recommendation techniques that track previous actions of groups of consumers to make personalized recommendations have been developed and applied. Current personalized recommendation systems suffer from the need to analyze large sets of consumer data, or data for numerous consumers. However, even within a single group, consumer preferences may differ, and individual preferences may also change with circumstances. Additionally, the consumer product knowledge influences their browsing actions. To orient Web-visitors on how to become consumers, a salesman-like recommendation technology was developed based on visitor product preference index, which comprises of their product knowledge and browsing actions in scene. A prototype system for use with high-technology product, 3G phones, was developed to test the effectiveness of the recommendation technology. Through a test of 250 objectives, the results show that the recommendation deviation level can be reduced to 0.49, and exact fit with visitor favor products can reach 60.8%, showing that the proposed model can achieve recommendation effectiveness.

A portable medical system using real-time streaming transport over 3G wireless networks Abstract _The paper proposes architecture for the software implementation of a multimedia, tele-medicine system. It considers video streaming from both video servers in hospitals and webcams localized to patients. It also consider stransmission of vital bio-signs, such as heart rates and blood pressure, etc. All these data are transmitted over a 3G-wireless communication system to various client devices (hand-held devices, such as PDAs) used by physicians and nurses. Our video codec is a software implementation of the MPEG-4 standard, compression rate at about 1/24 sizes suited for available transmitting bandwidth. Moreover, our design, which also integrates the processing of heart sounds, supports a 44.1 KHz sampling rate and a 16-bit representation required about 11 kbps bandwidth. At the same time, in the streaming process, we propose a congestion control scheme to reduce packet losses.

An Uplink Analytical Model for Two-Tiered 3G Femtocell Networks Abstract—This paper proposes an analytical model to investigate the impact of interference on the uplink capacity and coverage in a WCDMA network where macrocell and femtocells co-exist. Geometric modeling for the hierarchical system is used where the randomly deployed femtocells are within the planned macrocells’ topology. The interference effects among femtocells and between femtocells and macrocells are studied analytically to quantify the system capacity and coverage based on the practical target signal-to-interference ratio (SIR). Interference level splitting results show that the macrocell attached User Equipment (UE) to Home Node B (HNB) interference has severe impact on the capacity and coverage of femtocell network. Further study suggests that advanced receivers which cancel interference at the femtocell could minimize the effect brought by different interferences in a cost-effective manner.

An overview of Recent End-to-End Wireless Medical Video Telemedicine Systems using 3G Abstract—Advances in video compression, network technologies, and computer technologies have contributed to the rapid growth of mobile health (m-health) systems and services. Wide deployment of such systems and services is expected in the near future, and it’s foreseen that they will soon be incorporated in daily clinical practice. This study focuses in describing the basic components of an end-to-end wireless medical video telemedicine system, providing a brief overview of the recent advances in the field, while it also highlights future trends in the design of telemedicine systems that are diagnostically driven.

An Integrated Geographic Information Service Model Based on 3G Abstract_The 3G technology brings a great increase of wireless data transmission capacity, makes it possible for mobile geographic information services. Analyzing a series problems caused by mobile devices with a limited resource, a new integrated geographic information service mechanism is discussed based on 3G. The three key technologies, adaptive interactive mechanism, asynchronous transfer strategy and map cache management are discussed in detail. It provides a practical solution for efficiently providing diversified spatial information services to the mushroomed mobile users. Keywords-3G; mobile device; geographic information service; LBS

This paper concentrates on studying, designing and manufacturing a dual-band and high-bandwidth antenna applied for 3G mobile handsets. This antenna can work in GSMIUMTS bands by generating two resonant modes of 900 MHz and 1900 MHz frequencies. Antenna is printed on FR4 substrate with size of 58 mm x 80 mm, thickness of 1.6 mm and relative permittivity of 4.4. The proposed antenna is experimentally studied.
