Novel Dielectric Wedge Phase Shifter for 3G Mobile Basestation Antennas Abstract__     Phase shifter with moveable dielectric wedge plate sandwiching the strip line in a tri-plate transmission line structure is proposed and designed for 3G basestation antenna. Numerical simulations indicate that phase-shift unit with saw-tooth shaped wedge dielectric may provide low return loss and insertion loss. The performance of the proposed wedge dielectric phase shifter is further demonstrated by a four-element 3G linear array. Return loss below -17dB at 3G frequency bands and beam tilting in the vertical plane of the base station antenna in a range of 0.2o  to 12o can be obtained.

Transport channel synchronization is a function of 3G access networks that operates in the link between Radio Network Controllers (RNCs) and Base Stations (Nodes B) and is required to support macro-diversity in the downlink direction. Its objective is to assure that every frame sent by the RNC arrives at the Node B on time to be transmitted over the air interface avoiding excessive buffering at the Node B.

On 3G Mobile E-commerce Platform Based on Cloud Computing Abstract_Nowadays, along with mobile E-Commerce progress, mobile E-Commerce meets problems below: Firstly, the one is small Web bandwidth. Secondly, the other is high configuration of mobile telephone side. Furthermore user interface is also simple and unfriendly. "3G mobile E-commerce plaiform Based on Cloud Computing" have characteristics of high Web bandwidth, high data processing speed, and high security. The mobile E-commerce system breaks through traditional mobile E-commerce bottle-neck: 3G can provide higher mobile bandwidth and vivid user interface; In the meantime, cloud computing mode based on PKI has rapid ability of data processing, plenty of data memory and high security.

On the detection of signaling DoS attacks on 3G/WiMax wireless networks   Abstract__Third generation (3G) wireless networks based on the CDMA2000 and UMTS standards are now increasingly being deployed throughout the world. Because of their complex signaling and relatively limited bandwidth, these 3G networks are generally more vulnerable than their wireline counterparts, thus making them fertile ground for new attacks. In this paper, we identify and study a novel denial of service (DoS) attack, called signaling attack, that exploits the unique vulnerabilities of the signaling/control plane in 3G wireless networks. Using simulations driven by real traces, we are able to demonstrate the impact of a signaling attack. Specifically, we show how a well-timed low-volume signaling attack can potentially overload the control plane and detrimentally affect the key elements in a 3G wireless infrastructure. The low-volume nature of the signaling attack allows it to avoid detection by existing intrusion detection algorithms, which are often signature or volume-based. As a counter-measure, we present and evaluate an online early detection algorithm based on the statistical CUSUM method. Through the use of extensive trace-driven simulations, we demonstrate that the algorithm is robust and can identify an attack in its inception, before significant damage is done. Apart from 3G networks, we also show that many emerging wide-area networks such as 802.16/WiMax share the same vulnerability and our solution can also apply.

a wideband antenna for 3G indoor repeater applications is proposed. A wide impedance bandwidth was achieved using a 3-dB attenuator and mutual coupling between main and parasitic patches. The fabricated antenna has a VSWR below 1.5, a gain over 3.9 dBi, and an isolation between transmitting and receiving antennas higher than 80 dB over the 3G band from 1.92 to 2.5 GHz.

On the effect of Reed–Solomon coding with maximum block interleaving on MPEG-4 FGS video quality in 3G broadcasting Abstract_In Broadcast and Multicast Services (BCMCS) for CDMA2000 networks, Reed–Solomon (RS) coding is applied to the layers above the turbo code. An additional block interleaving mechanism improves the performance of RS coding when there are long bursts of errors. We propose a performance model of RS coding for varying conditions of Rayleigh fading on the broadcast channel with the maximum amount of block interleaving, and verify this analytic model by comparing its results with a simulation. Evaluating the quality of the resulting MPEG-4 FGS (fine granular scalability) video demonstrates the effectiveness of RS coding in achieving high perceived video quality.
