Oxygenated blood:Oxygen rich content blood flows from lungs. Then it reaches thin walled upper left chamber of heart called as left atrium or left auricle.Left auricle or Left atrium relaxes when it is collecting the blood. Then the left atrium contracts and left ventrical expands so that blood is transferred into left ventrical. When muscular left ventrical contracts blood is pumped out of the body.Deoxygenated blood or Carbon dioxide rich content blood:Deoxygenated blood comes from all parts of the body to heart It reaches the right atrium.Right atrium or right auricle relaxes when it is collecting blood.Right atrium contracts and right ventricle relaxes or dilates so that blood is transferred right auricle into right ventricle.Ventricules have thicker muscules than atrium. When right ventricle contracts it pumps blood into lungs for oxygenation.Oxygen enters into blood in lungs. The separation of oxygenated blood from deoxygenated blood allows a highly efficient supply of oxygen to the body. This is also useful in maintaining body temperature in animals birds and mammals.High energy is utilized to maintain body temperature.
