This video provides the mechanism of the dieckmann condensation reaction. The dieckmann reaction is basically a cyclic claisen ester intramolecular condensation reaction. This video also provides a few examples and problems of the dieckmann condensation reaction. This reaction is useful for creating cyclic beta keto esters and cyclic ketones from a single molecule that contains two ester functional groups.
