In this video explains Environmental pollution gives harmful effects on plants, animals and human beings.
Pollutant : A substance which causes pollution is known as pollutant
• They may be present in solid state (or) liquid state (or) gaseous state
• These are present in greater concentration in atmosphere than the natural abundance
• These are released into the atmosphere due to human activities (or) due to natural happenings.
Types of Pollutants: Pollutants are two types
i) Degradable pollutants: Which rapidly break down by natural processes?
Ex: Discarded vegetables
ii) Non- degradable pollutants: Which remains in the environment in an unchanged form for many decades?
Ex: DDT, Plastic materials, heavy metals, many chemicals, nuclear wastes etc.....
4) The main parts of the environment that effects by the pollution are,
a) Air Pollution, b) Water Pollution and c) Soil Pollution
a) Air pollution : The constituents of the gaseous lager present around the earth in the atmosphere are as follows.
1) Main constituents: Nitrogen, oxygen and water vapour
2) Minor constituents: Argon and carbon dioxide
3) Trace constituents: Neon, helium, krypton, nitrous oxide, hydrogen, xenon, sulphur dioxide, ozone, ammonia
• The density of the air and its pressure decreases as we go up from the earth
• Atmosphere can be divided into 4 parts . They extended up to 500km above the earth. They are,
1) Troposphere
2) Stratosphere
3) Mesosphere
4) Thermosphere
