An alternative look at the basic ideas behind quantities in Chemistry, including moles and Avogadro's number. The relative atomic mass of an element is the average mass of an atom, on a scale where one atom of the 12C isotope weighs 12 exactly. It is an average value, taking into account all the isotopes of the element.
